Safaricom’s Emerald PostPay plan comes with premium services including international roaming. To ensure you stay connected while abroad, you need to activate roaming before you leave.
Activation Steps for PostPay Customers
USSD Code: On your Safaricom line dial 444#* or* 456#.
Global Connect: Select “Global Connect” from the menu.
Activate Roaming: Follow the prompts to select “Activate Roaming”.
Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation message that roaming has been activated on your line.
Note: No deposit is required to activate roaming on PostPay lines.
For Corporate PostPay Customers
If you are a corporate PostPay customer roaming activation requires coordination with your account manager. Make sure you reach out to them before you travel to facilitate the activation process.
If You’ve Already Traveled Without Activating Roaming
If you find yourself abroad without activating roaming:
Email Support: Email advantage@safaricom.co.ke requesting roaming activation. Include your mobile number and any other relevant details to speed up the process.
Additional Tips for Roaming
Device Settings: Make sure data roaming is enabled on your device.
VoLTE Requirements: For destinations like the USA make sure your device supports VoLTE and it’s activated.
Sufficient Credit: Check that your account has sufficient credit or credit limit to cover roaming charges.
Roaming Bundles: To get discounted rates while roaming dial *444#, select “Global Connect” and purchase roaming bundles.
