Vivo is closing the year with a bang; the company is said to be launching Vivo V40 series on 30th September here in Kenya. The model was a new addition to its line-up that started getting popular earlier this year within the V30 series which was placed within the midrange segment of smartphones and had camera-centric features.

Design and Display Improvements

While the Vivo V40 retains a lot of sleek designs from its predecessor, the V30, it still manages to come with a few notable upgrades. For starters, the device has a thin profile made of glass at the back and front protected by Schott Xensation Alpha display protection. It also sees an upgrade in durability with an IP68 rating as compared to the IP54 rating on the V30 for better protection against dust and water.

The V40 sports a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen, touting a resolution of 1260 x 2800 pixels, HDR10+ support, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 4500 nits of brightness. Compared to the peak brightness of 2800 nits on the V30, this is obviously much better. It also features stereo speakers and a fingerprint reader under the display for convenience and added security.

Camera and Performance Boosts

Vivo has significantly enhanced the photographic capabilities in the V40, something that will go well with photography lovers. The V40 boasts the following:

  • A 50MP main camera with OIS, or Optical Image Stabilization;
  • A 50MP ultra-wide camera;
  • A 50MP selfie camera-perfect for high-resolution images.

All three cameras use 4K at 30fps video recording, which easily can make it a reliable device for content creators. Moreover, the Aura Light adds to the camera features and enhances the low-light portraits, hence allowing users to capture brighter and sharper facial details in the dimmest of settings.

For performance, the V40 sports the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory. The device boots with Android 14 and FunTouchOS 14 out of the box, promising two major Android OS updates and three years of security updates.

Bigger Battery and Fast Charging

The V40 also houses a 5500mAh battery, compared to the V30's 5000mAh. This larger capacity will be supplemented with 80W fast charging so that users don't remain very inactive or face any dead time.

Color Options and Launch Details

The various colours it will come in include Sunglow Peach, Stellar Silver, which is Titanium Grey, Moonlight White, Nebula Purple, which is Lotus Purple, and Ganges Blue. These cool color shades are an added degree of personalisation to the user.

The official launch is said to be on September 30, with preorders opening shortly afterwards to give consumers a chance to secure their device well before its release.
