Post Bank’s Patacash partners with Safaricom Mpesa service
Post Bank, in collaboration with M-Pesa, has introduced Patacash, a cutting-edge mobile phone banking service that empowers M-Pesa users with Post Bank accounts to access their funds seamlessly through their mobile phones. Patacash provides Post Bank customers with the convenience of withdrawing and depositing money into their accounts using the M-Pesa platform. This service comes at a time when mobile banking has become the primary method for conducting cash transactions among Kenyans. Mobile banking has permeated the Kenyan market to such an extent that it is now used for paying for goods, settling utility bills, and facilitating money transfers to friends and family.
Currently, many banks in Kenya have forged partnerships with Safaricom to leverage the M-Pesa service in bolstering their mobile banking offerings. Examples of these services include Patacash (Post Bank), Mkesho (Equity Bank), and Pesa pap (Family Bank). In these arrangements, Safaricom benefits from transaction fees generated through M-Pesa, while the banks generate revenue through withdrawals. The banking landscape in Africa is undeniably embracing the mobile revolution.
To utilize Patacash, interested individuals must hold an account with Post Bank and register for the Patacash mobile banking service by completing an application form at any Post Bank branch nationwide. Upon successful registration, their mobile phones will be activated, and they will receive a Personal Identification Number (PIN) via a text message.
