ADvTECH Group, Africa’s largest private education provider, has made a big move in Kenya’s private education sector by acquiring Regis Runda Academy for KSh1.23 billion (approximately R172 million). This is seven years after ADvTECH entered Kenya with the purchase of Makini Schools, one of the country’s top private school networks.

New Chapter for Regis Runda Academy

Opened in 2024 in Ridgeways, north of Nairobi, Regis Runda Academy has grown to 2,000 students. This acquisition strengthens ADvTECH’s presence in Kenya, particularly in the high-end private education sector and expands the reach of the already fast-growing Makini Schools network.

Growth in Kenya

This is ADvTECH’s continued growth in Kenya and East Africa. The group has been on a growth trajectory in the region since 2018 when it partnered with Scholé International to acquire Makini Schools which accelerated their entry into Kenya.

Further to this ADvTECH acquired Flipper International School in Ethiopia in November 2024 and launched Rosebank International University College in Ghana in June 2025.

What’s Next for Regis Runda Academy?

Regis Runda Academy will be rebranded and will now operate as Makini School Runda. The transition will take place on 20 August 2025.

ADvTECH will introduce AI powered digital learning tools and upgrade sports facilities to improve student outcomes. All past debts and liabilities will remain with the previous owners so the new operation can start fresh and clean.
