Safaricom has simplified its mobile service offerings with the launch of Emerald PostPay, a new subscription model that offers better value, transparency and flexibility to Kenyan customers.

Launched on February 28, 2025, the Emerald PostPay plans replace the older PostPay packages and are already live, with existing customers being migrated gradually.

What is Emerald PostPay?

Emerald PostPay is Safaricom’s refreshed postpaid service offering tiered monthly bundles of minutes, data and SMS. It’s for both individuals upgrading from PrePay and existing PostPay users, catering to different communication needs – from light users to heavy data consumers.

Changes to Note

Who can join?

  • PrePay customers looking to move to a structured postpaid model.

  • Current PostPay users who will be automatically migrated to the new Emerald system after choosing their preferred bundle.

How to join Emerald PostPay

Getting started is easy:

  1. Dial *544# on your Safaricom line.

  2. Select "Emerald" from the menu.

  3. Choose your plan.

  4. Enter your email address.

  5. Accept the terms and conditions.
