  • Your GOtv subscription has expired, or

  • You made payment but your decoder was off during the process.

In the second case the system doesn’t immediately update your account — causing the dreaded error even though your payment went through.

How to Clear GOtv Error E16 In Minutes

There are three easy methods to resolve this issue — whether you have internet or just a mobile phone.

1. Using the GOtv Self-Service Portal (Online Method)

If you have internet this is the fastest way to go.

Here’s what to do:

  • Go to the official GOtv self-service page: https://www.gotvafrica.com

  • Enter your IUC number (you can find it on the red sticker at the bottom of your decoder).

  • Select “GOTVE16” from the error options.

  • Click on “FIX ERROR” and wait a few minutes.

Make sure your decoder is turned ON during this process!

2. Using the USSD Code (No Internet Needed)

No data? No problem.

Just follow these steps:

  • Dial *423# on your mobile phone.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to clear the error.

Simple, fast and works with any phone — even without a smartphone.

3. Using SMS (Text Message Method)

If you prefer using text messages this method works too.

  • Compose a new SMS with the word:
    RESET [your IUC number]
    For example: RESET 1234567890

  • Send it to 22688Wait for a few minutes and your GOtv should be back. Remember to keep your decoder on during this process.
