Having been an internet junky for the longest time that I can remember, I can comfortably say that indeed Zuku is among the most prominent fixed internet service providers here in Kenya, and for the longest time has been slightly leading the market alongside Safaricom, which has also invested heavily in this space. Zuku's internet services have since become widely available in Kenya's major towns such as Nairobi and Mombasa, with its fiber solutions covering areas like Westlands where I typically work and in residential estates like Lang'ata and Umoja in Nairobi County. Setting up Zuku Internet is simple: all you have to do is move into a covered area, pay a small setup fee (which includes your first month's subscription), and start enjoying seamless connectivity.

Understanding Zuku Routers

Over the years that I have been using internet service from Zuku, the ISP has traditionally offered a variety of routers to its subscribers, but recently, the company has transitioned to Technicolor routers for their reliability and improved performance. If you own a Zuku internet connection with a Technicolor router, you can easily change your WiFi name (SSID) or password by following a few simple steps.

In this tutorial, we will guide you on how to log into your router and change your WiFi settings.

How to Log in to Zuku’s Technicolor Router Using Default Credentials

The default credentials for Zuku's routers are not commonly shared by the company on open platforms, presumably to avoid users making changes to important settings. However, if you feel up to the task of navigating router settings, here is how you can do it:

  1. Connect to the Router

    • Use an Ethernet cable for a stable connection or connect to the WiFi network provided by the router.
  2. Access the Router’s Login Page

  3. Enter Default Credentials

    • Leave the username field blank.
    • Use admin as the default password.

You should now have access to the router’s control panel.

Steps to Change Your Zuku WiFi Name and Password

Once logged in, follow these simple instructions to update your WiFi credentials:

  1. Navigate to Wireless Settings

    • At the top menu, click on the “Wireless” tab.
  2. Access Primary Network Settings

    • From the left-hand menu, select “Primary Network”.
  3. Edit Network Name (SSID)

    • Look for Network Name (SSID) to view your current WiFi name.
    • Replace it with your desired WiFi name.
  4. Update WiFi Password

    • Locate the WPA Pre-shared Key field, where your current password is stored.
    • Click on “Show Key” to view the password and update it if needed.
  5. Save Changes

    • Click on “Apply” to save your updates.

Important Note

If you are connected to WiFi when making these changes, your device will be disconnected from the network  as soon as you change the password. You will then have to reconnect using the new details.

Therefore, to change the Zuku WiFi settings, you only need to follow these simple steps. If you face any challenges, Zuku’s customer care service is always ready to help.
