In a celebration of youthful creativity and expression, ten students have been granted fully funded high school education scholarships, each valued at Kes3 million, through the Jubilee Live Free Art Competition sponsored by Jubilee Life Insurance.

This initiative, now in its third phase, aimed at fostering creativity and self-expression among young minds, providing them a platform to articulate their understanding of freedom through various art forms. The competition, open to primary school children under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in Kenya, drew in over 10,000 participants from Grade 1 to Grade 4, representing both public and private schools.

The sheer diversity and unique perspectives showcased in the 10,000 artworks from more than 300 schools across 19 counties underline the profound impact of the competition. A panel of seasoned art judges and creative professionals meticulously evaluated entries based on criteria such as creativity, originality, and alignment with this year’s theme, “Celebrating Jubilant Moments.”

From paintings and drawings to collages and mixed media, the participants utilized various mediums to articulate their interpretations of freedom.

Beyond the Kes3 million scholarships, the ten awardees will embark on personalized mentorship programs sponsored by Jubilee Life Insurance. To amplify the joy, the winners, winning schools, and top contributors per county will also receive gift hampers from the insurance company.

Chairman Zul Abdul, expressing his thoughts during the award ceremony, highlighted the surging participation in the annual competition as a testament to the growing interest and relevance of arts and culture. He emphasized that nurturing the seeds of artistic expression in young minds contributes to fostering a vibrant culture of art that, in turn, enriches communities.

Zul Abdul commented, “The Jubilee Live Free Art Competition not only encourages creativity and self-expression but also emphasizes the importance of community and family values. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the young artists who shared their incredible talents with us. Your creativity inspires us, and we look forward to continuing our commitment to the well-being of our communities.
