I have been a staunch user of Realme devices as my prefered budget android smartphones for several years now. The company has lots of interesting models being sold locally here in Kenya that I’m sure most of us would find very interesting. Realme has launched its latest model, the realme C55, in the East African market. The realme C55 aims to stand out in its segment with its exceptional features, including a powerful 64MP camera, fast charging capabilities, and ample storage options, all packaged in a stylish and distinctive design inspired by Sun-showers. Offering a comprehensive mobile experience, the realme C55 starts at a price of Kshs 25,000 for the 8+256GB variant.

realme has made significant advancements in the C Series, focusing on camera technology, storage capacity, charging capabilities, and design enhancements. The realme C55 is the first product to showcase these upgrades, breaking the price barrier by introducing the only 64MP camera available in its segment. On top of that, you’ll also find aan 8MP selfie camera complemented with a 2MP Black and White lens.

The C55 introduces a flagship OV64B sensor with a 0.7μm pixel size and a 1/2″ optical format, which is the same sensor used in the realme GT Master Edition. When you take a loom at it’s immediate predecessor, the C35, the C55 boasts a 54% increase in sensor size and a remarkable 53.8% improvement in clarity and resolution.

Furthermore, the realme C55 offers innovative image modes and filters to enhance the camera experience. With ProLight imaging technology, the C55 significantly improves resolution and optimizes highlight suppression ability, resulting in better details in low-light conditions.

In terms of storage, the realme C55 provides up to 16GB of dynamic RAM and 256GB of ROM, making it the largest storage capacity available in its segment. You’ll also enjoy support for additional memory, with the capability of reading up to 1T. With advanced DRE Technology, the C55 effectively doubles the RAM capacity from 8GB to 16GB, providing users with a seamless and smoother experience.

Addressing the need for improved battery performance, the realme C55 incorporates the fastest charging technology in its segment, the 33W SUPERVOOC charge, capable of charging the phone to 100% in just 63 minutes. Compared to its predecessor, the C35, which featured an 18W charge, the C55 offers a 100% increase in charge speed. With its massive 5000mAh battery, users can enjoy worry-free charging.

The realme C55 boasts a masterfully crafted design inspired by Sun-showers, incorporating elements from nature. Available in two colors, Sunshower and Rainy Night, the device features 500,000 light particles that form vertical microscope lines resembling rain, complemented by vibrant colors that evoke the joyful feeling of a sunshower.

With a right-angle bezel and a remarkably thin 7.89mm body, the C55 offers a comfortable grip and a pleasant in-hand sensation.

It packs FHD+ screen resolution on a 6.72inch screen and a 90Hz refresh rate, providing users with a more comfortable visual experience. The centrally positioned punch-hole seamlessly blends with the phone’s body, resulting in a better full-screen appearance.

Powering the realme C55 is the Helio G88 Chipset, based on 12nm process technology and featuring a Mali-G52 GPU. The octa-core processor runs at 2.0GHz and achieves an impressive Antutu benchmark score of 273,364.

Introducing a bold breakthrough, the realme C55 features Android’s first Mini Capsule, which intelligently adapts to the display and wraps around the punch-hole camera cutout. The Mini Capsule displays dynamic light in various colors to indicate battery status, including fully charged (green), charging (blue), and red respectively.
