Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) has made a significant commitment to support sustainable agriculture in the country by training 60,000 farmers on skills and resources to build their economic and environmental resilience in the face of climate change. The company aims to equip smallholder farmers with the means to build profitable enterprises while ensuring high-quality products enter their supply chain.

At an agricultural forum hosted by KBL in Nairobi, participants engaged in discussions on regenerative agriculture and climate change. The company’s commitment to sourcing sorghum and barley locally was also reiterated by the EABL Group Corporate Relations Director, Eric Kiniti.

Agriculture is a critical sector in the Kenyan economy, contributing 21.2% to the country’s total GDP. Mithika Linturi, the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, emphasised the need for all players in the agricultural sector to collaborate and optimise opportunities to support agricultural development, improve national food security, and enhance market access and trade.

KBL’s initiative to support sustainable agriculture in Kenya is commendable and aligns with global efforts towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By providing smallholder farmers with the necessary skills and resources, KBL is helping to promote economic growth, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion. This initiative also demonstrates KBL’s commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices, which are increasingly becoming a priority for consumers worldwide.
