Huduma Centre recently underwent a significant website transformation. As part of Huduma Kenya’s digitalization strategy, individuals now need to secure an online appointment to access physical services at the Huduma Centre.

The implementation of this plan aims to facilitate broader access to government services, according to Principal Secretary Amos N. Gathecha.

Huduma centres play a vital role in providing essential public services, including the issuance of birth certificates, police clearance certificates, national IDs, work permits, and more. Customers of Huduma Kenya can now conveniently book appointments online at any time.

Although the appointment system was initially introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, it has now become a mandatory process.

Huduma Kenya’s official website reports that approximately 60,000 people receive assistance at Huduma centres across the country on a daily basis.

Huduma Centre Extends Operational Hours

Furthermore, Huduma Kenya has announced the extension of working hours at selected centres.

However, the extended hours will only be applicable to 18 designated Huduma centres, which will be open from 7 am to 7 pm from Monday to Friday.

The high-traffic Huduma Centres that will operate under the extended hours are as follows: Nairobi GPO, City Square, Makadara, Kibra, Eastleigh, Kiambu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Nyeri, Embu, Meru, Laikipia, Kisii, Kitale, Kericho, Kakamega, Kisumu, and Mombasa.

The remaining 34 Huduma Centres will continue to operate from 8 am to 5 pm.

With the introduction of online appointment booking and the extension of operating hours, Huduma Kenya aims to eliminate long queues and reduce waiting times for Kenyans seeking government services.

In line with their objective to provide fast and efficient services, Huduma Centres have established cyber cafes nationwide to cater to their customers’ needs. To enhance capacity, Huduma Kenya has been offering free training to cyber cafe attendants.

On May 15, 2023, cyber cafe attendants from the 52 Huduma Centres jumped on the bandwagon and joined a virtual training session orchestrated by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement (KUCCPS). This training was a game-changer, arming the attendants with the ace up their sleeve to assist customers seeking KUCCPS services at the cyber cafes within the 52 Huduma Centres.
