Safaricom, one of Kenya’s leading telecommunications companies, has launched the myCounty App, a digital services platform designed to provide citizens with a one-stop-shop for all their county service needs. The platform offers an open architecture that supports a range of services for counties, including revenue management and citizen services that are accessible via web, mobile, or the myCounty app.

The myCounty app provides a single, convenient point for individuals and organizations to access, manage, and pay for all county services. It is available via multiple channels, such as USSD short code, Android and iPhone apps, and a mini-app available on the M-PESA Super App. With the app, users can select their county of residence, which enables them to be linked to the specific county’s services for processing of requests.

Makueni County is the first devolved unit in Kenya to provide all their services on the myCounty app. This is a significant development for the county and the country as a whole, as it provides a way for citizens to access county services more efficiently and effectively. The platform will gradually be incorporated into all 47 counties in the upcoming months.

The myCounty app offers a range of county services and payment options, including parking fees, single business permit fees, market cess, land rates, property rates, and more. It also provides a “Sema Na Governor” feature that empowers residents to engage with their Governor or report issues. In addition, the app provides key county and emergency services, including requests for fire, ambulance, police, and more at the tap of a button.

The myCounty app will be hosted as part of the Safaricom Cloud, providing Big Data and Analytics Solutions, and digital receipts and electronic notifications. This is a significant development as it ensures that the app is secure and reliable, and that all data is protected.

The myCounty app is a game-changer for counties in Kenya. It provides citizens with a convenient and efficient way to access county services and make payments, while also empowering them to engage with their Governor and report issues. With the app, citizens can access all county services in one place, reducing the time and effort required to access these services. This will have a positive impact on citizens’ lives and the development of counties in Kenya.
